Where's My Bestest Pal?
a puppet script for someone special
You can use this play for Father's Day, Mother's Day, Grandparent's Day or a simple I Love You Day.
First head on over to the
"Make a Sock Puppet Page" or the
"Make a Sack Puppet Page"
and help your child make a quicky puppet. It doesn't matter what kind of a character you dream
up. In fact the crazier the critter the better.
Now have your child practice with the
puppet. Count to ten and say the ABC's. Talking with a puppet isn't exactly a natural act, so
it is best to practice a bit.
Have your child pick out some unlikely household fixtures
like the dining room table, the refrigerator, a lamp, the dog etc. Have the puppet say, "
Do you know where my (insert name here i.e. Father, Mother, Grandma etc.) is? Are you my
(insert name here)?" Have the puppet go from object to object asking this question.
Each time the puppet should respond with an EXCLAMATION stating that the object certainly is
not the special person.
For the final performance the puppet and the child will finally
find the real person and give him or her a big, fat hug.
This idea is based on the wonderful book Are You My Mother by P.D. Eastman
